Default Newbie Struggling-help!

I have a 2000 xk8 convertible (purchased a month ago) that I'm attempting to replace all speakers and unfortunately the head unit. I have the alpine system. This could get lengthy so bare with me please....

When I purchased only one speaker in dash played. I replaced the door speakers
which upon hooking up and testing worked fine. Upon surprise now both dash speakers worked as well as the door tweeters! I'm feeling pretty goodabout the project! Still no rear speakers tho which I figure just need replaced.

I viewed posts from H2Oboy here that stated he replaced his rear with JL Audio 6 1/2 subs with no issue. I love jl so I in turn ordered them. Subs received so took on the project of replacement....subs dont fit...way too deep! Suggestions or help please?!?!?!

Thx very much!

Just for fun, check the radio setting for your subwoofers (SW from Mode button). I rode around for about a week thinking my rear speakers were bad until someone suggested they might not be turned up. Hit the Mode button, clicked over to "SW" and reset to "5". Problem solved. They have such a low tone that they can seem to be inoperable.

p.s. if you disconnect the battery, the mode settings go back to default of "0", so it is easy for them to be turned back down.

Very true. When re-connecting the Battery, the Station Presets are preserved, but the Audio (Mode) Settings are reset to 0.

The battery reconnection did not help my issue. Thanks for the suggestions tho!

Ed- thanks for the link to your project as well. Unfortunately my subs are deeper than the kickers you installed. I attempted to create a face plate for sub "box" but it stuck out to far which would not allow the interior panel to go back in place.... There has to be a solution!
