Can you do things like open the passenger window from the driver's controls? If you lock/unlock the doors using the driver's internal handle do both sides lock and unlock? If so that would indicate the SCP is working.

According to my wiring diagram, the KTM is on the serial data link, the SLM is on the SCP.

Windows work, both handles lock and unlock. I suspect KTM problem if he is unable to connect to much.
I have note tried the image I have downloaded yet, will try over the weekend (that is the plan).

Update. SDD 130 does not work. He tried but claims it is too new to talk to the security on a 1999 XK8.
Do I need the Mongoose cable or Rotunda? Where can I get one?

I am at a loss. What can be done?

Is there anybody in the UK that knows how to resolve this and has the software?
I checked with Jaguar, they are not able to help, far too old.

OK update.
Not getting anywhere, in fact now worse.
The local auto locksmith helping me has managed to get into the system with his software. But unable to read KTM.
KTM not responding at all so we plugged in another identical unit and it is responding ok.
Programmed the key in, then he cut a new key with a transponder and programmed that in. It sees both, but still not working.
Cloned old KTM to new, reprogrammed keys, not working.
Changed exciter coil for another, no luck, still fails.
I then managed to lock the car, but upon unlock the alarm warning starts, but the keyfob remote does not work now at all.
Alarm is impossible to stop.
Removed horn relay, but having tried everything the alarm will not stop.
Disconnected battery.

Close to torching the car.
Looks like I need to get this kit.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274985546...edia=WHATS_APP
Swaps out all locks, ECU and KTM, comes with a key and exciter (for some reason), ECU and KTM with a key that all came off of 1 car.

How can I reset the alarm in the meantime? Not possible to reprogram the remote at the moment.

Thoughts?
Thanks

How did you lock the car? With the key or the fob?

Sorry to repeat this, but make absolutely sure your car battery is still fully charged.

BTW is that kit matching the VCATS numbers for your car?

I am keeping the battery fully charged by attaching a smart charger 2-3 times a week at the moment.
Car was locked with key. Now unlocks but not able to stop alarm at all.
Tried hard reset.
Numbers match VCATS.
Thanks

Is the car horn sounding plus the security sounder? The sounder is inside the driver's side wing - get at it through the wheel arch to shut it up.

I wouldn't normally suggest part swapping to try and fix a fault, but for the price that kit is worth having just as spares if nothing else. They are a reputable seller also.

See if anybody else has any ideas before buying that kit.

Sounder is dead, has been for years. Horn is disabled, removed relay.

Right now the car is a brick, willing to try anything.

Have you physically disconnected the sounder? It is on one of the networks, so probably best to make sure it isn't causing a problem. The other thing you can do while waiting for the kit to arrive is test for power and ground at the modules, just to rule out something stupid like a dead relay.

It is physically disconnected yes.
Still unable to stop alarm.
How can you reset the alarm?

I think the only way to turn the alarm off is either with the key in the ignition or the fob, which of course is your problem.

Update:
Yes this is fixed now.
The specialist autolocksmith fixed it.
It seems that something has corrupted the key info.
The original KTM was not talking to things correctly and had to be replaced with one with an identical part number.
He managed to get the key config file from it.
Luckily I found one online for £20 and ordered that. Very close dates etc on the label.
He copied the file back into the new KTM, re-programmed the 2 keys, and all is ok.
He did a great job. Took a while, but he worked hard at this over a few visits and charged a reasonable rate.

Relieved.

Good to hear! I was just reading over this and was going to suggest trying the inertia switch.
