Default No Key FOB "Chirp" during reprogramming

I'm Trying to add a new Key fob. i put the key in, turn on the high beams, turn the key and then flash the high beams 5, 10, 20 times and there is never a "Chirp".

Is the chirper on a fuse that could be blown or pulled?

Is there supposed to be a chirp when I lock the car? because I don't get that chirp either.

I thought there was a TSB on the early XK8 for the lack of audible 'chirp' on lock/unlock.
I don't see it in my .pdf documents but it might have been a PAPER TSB from my dealership days.

There should be a VISIBLE indication of the security LED when the SLCM is in 'learning-mode'.

I think the 1997 needed 5 flashes of the headlamps and the 1998> required only 4.
The 1997 (being the first MY production) did have some differences from later models.

I don't remember all that I used to know!!!!!!!!!!!!!
