Default Assembly of a lighted key project

I am in need of the experts among the throws of this forum, to solve the mystery as to how the lighted key assembly shown in the attached photos, is put together. The battery and the lamb are new. I received this key assembly in parts when I purchased the Jag over 3 years ago. I would greatly appreciated getting the key fully together and functional. Mert..

Using the red photo:

1. Take the left copper piece and put it in the right housing, the one with the bulb. You have the copper piece facing the right way, just rotate it so that the copper tab fits into the top left part of the housing as you have it laid out.
2. Place the spring into the center of the right housing with he copper piece.
3. Place second copper piece over the spring. You have the copper piece upside down in the red photo. The other one shows it the right way. The tab should fit into the upper left hand corner of the housing with the tab sticking up towards you.
4. I think this is where the battery goes. (My unit doesn't have a battery, nor do
I know the size)
5. Place the jaguar button into the housing on the left. It only goes in one way. Line up the tabs.
6. Place the #5 assembly onto the one you have from doing #1-#4.

You're done!

If you can tell me what battery and what bulb I need, that would be great!

Thanks for your reply. The battery is CBN625A. Found in the battery section of a grocery store. The light is 1.5v .09wa.(hard to find) Photos are attached. NOW, I am still having no luck. I assembled the parts in the order you listed. Even tried to reverse the battery and the spring .. BUT once everything was assembled and put in the key slot >> the light came on and stayed on. If I push the Jaguar tab, the light goes off. Releasing the tab, light comes on, stays on. See the photos for part assembly This is from Left to Right as to how I put the parts together. As assembled, the purpose of the light is reversed. Any ideas. Something is reversed. Which part is it??

Found the bulb! It's a $10 bulb from eBay, shipped from the UK. Just search "FOB torch bulb". I may spend some more time to find something more specific, but for future reference...

Anyways, when I get a bulb, I'll try it out on my key. I had no battery, so obviously you'll have to try positioning the key in each position to find the right spot.

Perhaps, following my instructions above, but put the battery on the spring before the last copper piece goes on top? If not, what if you put the battery in before the spring and the second copper piece?

Glad you located a bulb. What I am beginning to believe, is the 625A battery is too thick. I am going to take the whole assembly to a battery store and determine what exactly works. There is a L1560 battery that appears to be slimmer. I will let you know something tomorrow. Don't go buying the wrong battery.

I have solved the riddle. It was the battery. The sequence of assembly that you listed is correct. The battery fits into the rear of the Jaguar button. Where I had gone wrong was the maker of the battery. Yes, it was a 625A (which is correct) BUT it was an aftermarket brand. Buy a Duracell 625A battery in a sealed package. Assemble everything like you mentioned above and when you push on the Jaguar logo button, the light should come on. When released, the light should go off. Thanks so much for you assistance. It has taken me over 2 years to find someone that could connect the dots, to solve the riddle. Mert

My 93 XJS coupe just recently went through a 6 month refurbishing. See the photos. The key light was a small item on the to-do list.
