Hello all,

Recently I noticed that my 97 XK8 no longer makes any beeps when I put the key in the ignition to start the engine. Furthermore, it doesn't have any sound from the blinkers. I didn't realize this at first until I realized I had left my blinker on for the entire ride down the highway. (embarrassing)

After some inspection, I found a speaker on the steering column which I believe would be the source of audio for the ignition beeps and blinker clicks. I assume mine has died somehow? There's no visual damage I could see.. Does anybody have any advice on how to either fix or replace this speaker? Any advice is much appreciated, as I do miss the the car's signature noises.

Chck this thread from perfectphoto. There's a link to a how-to video and a source for a replacement loudspeaker (the links are still active):

Definitely go with John to The Garage's video. I used it about 3 weeks ago to replace my speaker which was intermittently going open circuit.
Whatever you do, just buy a similar specification speaker for a couple of pounds/dollars.

Do not pay for an original high price speaker.
