Default No sound from turn signal

After I had the fuel pump replaced, I noticed that the turn signal works for both directions but there is no sound. I think the wiring is close to the fuel tank but any suggestions why that happens and recommended troubleshooting?
Thanks

I can't help you, but I'm curious, too. My turn signal is very quiet and when I have the top down I sometimes end up driving for miles with the turn signal flashing because I can't hear it.

Same here, but I can't hear very well anymore. I would need something that sounds like a train whistle.

Unlike most cars, where you hear the turn signal relay, the XK8/R uses a speaker in the steering column to provide the distinctive 'knock on wood' sound for the turn signals.

That is the same speaker that generates the seat belt warning, the valet mode ding and the convertible top cycle over ding...do these work?

Whitey;

That is great info on the steering column speaker....I wondered about that because both the Italian Super Model Wife and I love the 'Tic-Tock' turn signal...sounds like a grand father clock getting ready to go off.

I have a question on the Top up and down signal....it goes off when it starts and when the top lock engages but not when the rear windows are fully up on ours....is that normal?

I ask because last night driving back from Lyon it took me a while to

1. Figure out that there was a gap between the driver's side and rear window causing noise that was not there on the drive down.
2. That it was not the driver's side window that was not fully up.
3. That it was not because the door was not shut properly.
4. That it was the rear window that was not fully up on one side.
5. That there are no rear window controls in the front passenger compartment, too dark to see in the rear.
6. That I had to recycle the top up fully to get the rear windows to fully rise.
7. Not to check the front window by lowering and raising it again or otherwise have to repeat the top recycle to get the rears fully up.

A tone to say the rear windows are fully up and the top up cycle is fully complete would be very useful.

cheers,

jj

Whitey;

Darn. Why not two tones?

Anyone with any ideas on how to reprogram that.

And FYI I thought all the guys out there doing the Key Fob Top Down control had a bit too much time on their hands until I had to park in a small French Garage yesterday and ended up hopping the center console out and in....now I want one too.

Thanks for the conciseness of your answer....any relation to Clint Eastwood?

cheers,

jj

As soon as I get the Pentosin loaded, I will start the car and check.
Thanks

I checked and you are right, there is no seat belt warning alert either.

Does the speaker suddenly go bad or is there the possiblity of an unplugged wire near or around the fuel tank (they had to take the fuel tank out to install the new fuel pump).

I looked at the wiring and it is all in the dash area.

Check fuses 5 and 7 (both 15 A) in the drivers side fusebox at the end of the dash near the door. These are for the Body Processor Module (BPM) and directly feed the audible alarm circuits. It is concievable that something else in the rear of the car shorted an input to the BPM during the service and blew one of these fuses.

I think it is a programmable option, since it is called out in the JTIS wiring diagram, and it is programmed 'off' by default in our cars. I guess I was looking at the JTIS description and not thinking my own experience.

I am happy not to have a seat belt 'idiot', have to disconnect them on all my cars anyway.

Not that I don't use them, have always felt naked without them, but the noise is a pain when you are just backing the car into the garage, etc.

Still no ideas on a second tone for the rear windows fully up when the top cycles?

Any way to get the rear windows up with the top down?

It would cut off a lot of the wind once you are up to speed....

cheers,

jj

Nothing straighforward that I can think of, but maybe some ideas not so straightforward...blah, blah, blah....

But.....Do you know about your top up & down / all windows up and down feature of your driver's door lock? When you lock form the outside with the key, if you turn the key past the 'stop' and hold it, all the windows will raise and the top will go up if you continue holding. Likewise if you open the door with the key and turn it past the 'stop' you can drop the top and/or lower all the windows.
