Default Occasional roaring noise from back seat at startup

Hello all, my 2000 XK8 coupe, with 57k miles on her, occasionally experiences a roaring noise at startup. The sound seems to come from rear of back seat. The noise will stop after a few seconds. It idles a little rough at the same time. All that seems to stop as soon as I rev engine. No trouble shifting into drive. No noise while driving. Seems more likely to happen if I turn key to start quickly as opposed to cycling key slowly and hesitating at system check before cranking engine. Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions.

Brad, I thought only the super charged cars have 2 pumps. Let's see what others say.

Yes, only 1 pump on the 4.0 XK8 - at least its a coupe so he can change the pump through the subwoofer hole and the pumps are cheap being shared with Fords etc.

Yes, I was wrong about the two pumps. Being my first Jaguar, I had just finished reading a thread on the forum about changing a fuel pump and failed to notice the thread was about a SC car. I am undeterred though and am searching for replacement parts now. When I decided to enter the world of the vintage luxury car hobby, I committed to doing as much maintenance myself as possible. I will post results when complete. Thanks all for the help and advice. Brad

Just to throw a trivial possibility out there, any chance you're hearing the antenna mast extending?

It might be a little overstated to call it "roaring," but every once in a while I notice the sound as I'm starting up and have to remember what it is.

Thank you for the suggestion Volkris. I rarely play the radio because the antenna hits my garage door so I have to be careful about that and have gotten in the habit of turning the radio off before entering and on after exiting. Antenna is a different sound as well. Good call though. Thanks
