Hi,

Is there any reason that I cannot create a replica of the octopus hose out of soft bendable copper, solder all connections, flare ends, dip is some protective urethane and not need to be concerned @ replacing it again?

I plan on keeping the xk8 till I die and hopefully that will be a few more years.

You will still have to use some hose sections to connect to the plastic nipples on the heater valve, pressure tank and throttle body. And don't forget the check valve. Winding it around and bending to get it all to connect would be a challenge. The hose usually lasts at least ten years, so is it really worth doing?

Back in late December / early January I cut the leaking passenger-side Norma connector out of the octopus hose and replaced it with a brass hose barb, then replaced the just-beginning-to-weep driver-side T-connector with a new OEM one. The cost of these repairs was about $15 and it completely solved both coolant leak issues. I now expect this revised octopus hose to last for years to come....
