Posted about this issue a couple of months ago and got a pair of responses suggesting power steering fluid.

Here's the issue - Finding a coating of an oily (clear, generally odorless) substance on the threshold and lower front door opening of the car's driver side. Have cleaned it off a couple of times and it returns.

After the first set of responses, I started checking for source of power steering fluid around that location - can't find a source. Thought it might be coming from within the inner fender liner, but that area is totally dry and no fluid source. The power steering reservoir is at the left-front of the engine, far away from the door threshold, so I'm lost.

Anyone got suggestions - what the fluid is, and how it gets to the door opening? (without getting onto the hinge area of the door opening)

 

Could be from the top latch or its hoses and running down there. Check around the latch and interior lights/mirror console under it etc.
