Default Oil dip stick tube removal

Hello all,

I am having difficulty removing the oil dipstick tube in order to replace the o ring. I have to replace a leaking cam cover seal. I can cet it to a point but it seems to get caught and I cannot work it free. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

Mike

Leave the dipstick in place then wiggle the tube and lift gently you do not want to pull it all the way out. Leaving the dipstick in will guide you in putting it back in or you will hate yourself.

After removing the hex nut from the bracket half way down the tube, it should come out by twisting gently from side to side as you pull on it.

before you pull it out feed down through the dipstick a length of straightened bailing wire, reasonably heavy gauge. it will act as a guide for the new seal and dipstick tube when you install it as well as showing you exactly where it goes. this worked for me on another nightmare dipstick installation.

WhiteHat has it right. I use a wooden dowel, but any kind of heavy wire or thin rod works. This allows removal of the tube.

What about where the tube is attached to the back of the PAS pump? I'm doing the pump R&R and cannot even see the little clip that the JTIS says is holding the tube to the back of the pump. It's a long way down there....because the PAS pump is actually pretty far down where it attaches to the engine.

Any help is appreciated.

How did this go? Apparently some are more difficult/cooperative than others.
Thanks
