Default Oil Gallery Plug and RMS

Is it possible to DIY the Oil Gallery Plug and the Rear Main Seal? I only have a jack and jackstands. I do not have a lift.

Will I need any special tools?

Gearbox OUT and check the seal. The plug is a 17mm HEX (allen) and is usually loose.

I use a short length of (3"?) PVC schedule 40 or 80 pipe to drive the seal.
I took the seal to the hardware store and got an assortment of PVC fittings for the job.

I see… I have never removed a gearbox before, so that’s a challenge.

I disconnect all the electrics to the gearbox and undo the 16ish bolts of the bellhousing, undo the transmission mount, and use a jack to drop it down? How high off the ground does the car need to be? Is there any seal on the transmission side that should to be replaced?

I think you need close to 24" clearance to drop it. I have a scissors lift so I am not certain. There are no seals on the transmission to worry about.

Ohh, 24”?! I may need to get creative.

It's probably not that bad, depends on the height of the jack that will be under the transmission. 18" might be sufficient.
