Oil Pressure
Thanks guys.
I'll be changing the oil and filter tomorrow along with checking the oil pressure sending unit. As an aside, there have been no low pressure indications in the last 24 hours.

Zray, manufacturers specify low viscosity oil for only one reason: CAFE, Corporate Average Fuel Economy, in the States. Low vis synthetic oil adds on average 1 mile per gallon to to fuel economy. His car has 140,000 miles on it. The main and rod bearings probably have increased clearances and may be bleeding off oil pressure at idle. I am suggesting a simple change of viscosity to see if the oil change is the problem.

You know that I have said over and over again to use the oil recommended for the climate you are in and that information is in your owners manual.
As for the oil filter it may have been the problem with the low pressure indication you got but no way of knowing for sure that the problem no longer exists. I have used non jaguar filters without incident but that is not to say yours is not a problem.
At this point check the lead to the transponder/oil pressure sender switch and if you feel it necessary replace the filter. If you R&R the filter see if you see any plastic wrap or any material that might have obstructed the flow to and from the filter. Just be sure it is clear and clean of any obstructions.
