Default Oil pressure gauge

Has anyone found somewhere to mount a manual oil gauge that does not look like a bump on a log?

Dale,
Have you considered this from WhiteXKR?:

XK8 / XKR / XJ RealGauge - TheJagWrangler

You'll get a temp. gauge that works properly too! It's on my list of Stuff To Do...

Thinking very strongly about it as I can't find anywhere to put an additional gauge without ruining looks

+1 on the RealGauge product. Easy to install and you have use of the factory gauge.

Mine has been on 4+ years with no problems. Works great.

Also you then have a temp. alarm for overheating.

Ditto on the RealGauge product. It is by far the most thoughtfully designed add on that I have ever installed with excellent instructions. It was actually fun to do. The existing gauge does provide an accurate reading with this kit; i checked.

Just do not be surprised that at idle and fully warmed oil you will have a reading of 12.5. This is normal.

To my knowledge the audible alarm will also alert you to a low oil pressure condition and all of your existing warning lights will continue to operate.

Thanks for all the good words on RealGauge! I can't believe it is almost 5 years since I originally designed this product (on a challenge from forum member 'The Coupe', if I recall). It was also a lot of fun to design it. That little computer does some serious continuous number crunching to keep those gauges moving.

Over the years I have heard from several owners who said it has saved their engine, which is very gratifying for me.

Found this ugrade for those with the NAV panel. There's even a couple of spare accessory switches.

Default 2004 XK8 conv. w/nav

Picked up the 8 03/16/17. It has the nav system(didn't want it but you take what is there). I would be interested in the oil & water gauges but, as someone else posed, where would they go?

Check with whitexkr. I think he has swap kit. If not, he can steer you in right direction. I just ordered kit from him that make gauges work for real, not placebos that come standard

WhiteXKR has a swap kit. All you need is the 3 gauge veneer panel, which is readily available on eBay, among others.

Othodixie,
Getting the triple guage panel to match your current wood is the hard part! See these threads for my adventure....

Here's the link to my solution to fitting an oil pressure gauge in addition to the OEM satnav option

The real Gauge kit looks brilliant. I hate the fake oil pressure gauge but assumed it was something I had to live with, and I never knew the temp gauge was a fudged!

Chapeau to the maker!

So I think I will be doing this mod, the only thing putting me off is the dollar pound exchange rate, and the removing of the dash (I'm more of a a nuts and bolts guy) can anyone let me know how long the install of both kits take, and how fiddle it is thanks???

I'll give forum members 10% off of they contact me first here: Contact Us - TheJagWrangler

The gauge cluster dash wood fascia comes removes fairly readily. I would allow about an hour for RealGauge coolant and 1.5 hours for the oil pressure option. Reserving an afternoon is a safe bet. The instructions are very explicit. It is not hard, but bring your reading glasses if you use them, and get a helper if you have color vision problems (to identify wires).

The coolant version is all done from the drivers seat. The oil pressure option also requires you to get under the car right near the oil filter.

Here is a video that shows wood fascia and speedo cluster removal:

All the instructions can be previewed here: http://www.thejagwrangler.com/realga...tallation.html
