oil pressure issue
i have had my 1998 XK8 for 3 years.. in all that time the car has never had any problems at start up with oil pressure after sitting.. just a few weeks ago.. after the car had been sitting for a month, i started it up and the oil pressure gauge showed zero pressure and the warning buzzer went off!! OUCH!! that thing is really loud!! the oil is full and there are no leaks and once it is running the pressure came up and all is fine after that.. as long as i start it at least every other day it is okay.. let it sit for a week or more and it hesitates to come up right away, i have to raise the RPMs to do it.. any idea?? bad oil pump?? or pressure sender ??
I agree with Test Point BTW as the most likely cause.
the car is stock.. i only upgraded the temp gauge..
and the oil gauge is stock.. yes this started after it got cold.. guess i need an oil change.. and new filter Thank you everyone for your help..

Ahh...many folks forget that even the temperature only version of RealGauge upgrade includes an alarm for both the temperature AND the oil pressure. The oil pressure alarm is triggered by the low oil pressure switch only when the oil pressure option is not installed.
hahah yes!! now i remember!! it was a part of that kit... i will just ignore it until i can get the oil and filter changed again..
Thank you for the wonderful information and help.. i feel so much better.. thought i was going to have to sell it or trade it in..
