Omg!!! $3500!!!
The ad says that the dealer says the ECU needs to be replaced but the car still runs. It also says it has the metal tensioners. It's my favorite color combination!
%@$%&$$*!!!!!!! I'm trying to sell, not buy! Hopefully I'll find a deal like this in a year or two when I want to buy another XK8.

Buy it Sam. Make it your project car. Don't insure it until your ready to drive it.
That's my favorite color too. Still looking for a low mileage xkr in that color.............at a reasonable price. Haven't had much luck yet. ha

If that was local to me it would be in my garage already. I wouldnt do a engine swap , just fix it and enjoy it. Not sure why I would need 2 convertibles but sometimes you just cant pass up a nice project car and it sure seems that way to me.
He's had a lot of work done, so those issues are out for awhile (probably the remaining life of the car). What does a new ECU cost (with programming) for a '97?
Beautiful color combination, for sure.

My WAG is that 70% of condemned ECUs really never had a problem - any make/model. If it's not at a Jag dealer I'd be very suspect that it could be a lesser problem. And if it does have a problem there may be a chance it could be rebuilt. Tell your insurance company it's a sculpture/conversation piece and get a rider on your homeowner's policy to cover it.
