Smile Opinions on Rims for my black 1997 XK8

Hey there....Not too many choices for 17" rims that fit the car as far as I can find so could use a few links for my options. I was leaning towards the Milanni Stellars (cheap and would help show off the rotors and calipers)

Not sure if I would go with the black coventrys' / don't want it to look like a race car.

I like silver but just can't find anything I like.

17x8 Milanni Stellar 5x114 3 5x4 5 5x120 65 5x4 75 25mm Chrome Wheels Rims 17" | eBay

I just don't want to screw up and be dissatisfied w/ my purchase. I know some people do not like the chrome look, but with the right rims it could add a little class.

All comments appreciated,
Bruce

I'm really not a fan of black wheels, even on 'modern' cars. On a Jag designed before anyone had even thought of them, they're going to look nasty. Chrome wheels are only favoured here in Europe by drug dealers and/or people with no taste. Go with some nice original looking silver wheels. Just my €2

We don't have drug dealers in the U.S..........but I sure wouldn't like to be considered a person with no class.

We don't have an identifiable criminal class in the US, excepting Congress of course. More or less what Mark Twain said.

Anyway, stay as close to stock offerings on Jag wheels as possible.

Just found the picture I was thinking of when composing my reply above... Note the growlers in the chavvy wrap for that OEM look

Agree!!!!

I want to be 110% certain of my final decision on the rims as it is a small chunk of change.....I have chrome revolvers on it now/ it's what the car came with but they are in sad shape. I don't like the look of them at all

Thanks for your input,
Bruce

If you aren't in a hurry, and want to keep with something stock, you could put a post in the "wanted" section. I'm sure there are members going from 17 or 18 to larger wheels and I bet you could get a good price.

I have been thinking about going larger myself, at which point a set of 18" Hydras will become available. Just not quite ready to make the leap (read: pay the bill).

Maybe even the ones that H2O has listed: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/private-sale-trade-classifieds-9/jaguar-custom-wheels-chrome-$1100-shipped-82700/ Off an XJ, but might work, depending on your taste.

No the wheels from an X350 won't fit an X100.

Keep an eye out for original XKR wheels, Sepangs, Detroits, etc...

I would also stick with OEM wheels...what about these 18" in silver, from the XKR?

I'm sure you're not, I was talking about Europe White cars with humungous chrome wheels look ok on the Las Vegas strip, but faintly absurd along rain-soaked Brighton promenade.

Default RE: Rims

Thanks everyone for your input.

I'm a little confused now in that I don't know the bolt pattern or the offset. Is this something I can find out in the JTIS repair manual or do I need to go out and measure something?

What is the offset anyway?

Just never bought rims before. I need to stick with the 17" because I just purchased 4 new tires.

Thanks Guys,
Bruce

TBH, you won't find much in the aftermarket sector for the jaguar xk8/r (97-2006) for anything reasonable. You're looking for 5x120.65 with offset right around 33-35mm for non-staggered (all wheels same width). Unless you want to add adapters to change bolt patterns from jag's to another. (PITA if you ask me)

Sticking with stock 17s is going to leave you very limited in choices, when jaguar only made the Revolver (for xk8-r), Lamina (xj8-r), and Gemini (xk8-r) styles (the latter only for the Mexico market). As you will notice, the x308 (xj series) wheels do fit our xk8s.

That's the only non-OEM wheel I would consider putting on my car. My only gripe is that they don't have 9's, but they do have 8.5's and 10.5's in a 20".

If they had 9's in 20, I'd buy a set. Right now I'm still on the fence.

Default Crap

Now I'm thinking I should have held off on the tires a bit longer. It seems most are upgrading to larger wheel/tire combos most likely from the limited choice out there as well as the updated look.

Well....I've got till spring to figure this out. Again I want to be absolutely certain of my decision. Definately no wheel spacers to give me more options.

Thanks again everyone,
Bruce

Keep it coming if you have a thought

If i'm not mistaken the wheels from the X308 XJ also fit the XK?
