Optional tire sizes in 18
Who had tried using the same size front and rear to be able to rotate tires (a little). Id like to keep the stock 18 wheels but use the same size tires all the way around.
possible ? What size works ?
pipe dream ?
stock tire size is 245/45-18 front and 255/45-18 rear.

Im just wanting to be able to swap the rear tires to the front and have it be OK despite the front wheels are not the same width as the rears
and since Im wishing, I want a tire with a little more sidewall so the wheel well is filled up better.

no, I have the stock 18 wheels (double nickel) that are 8 width on the front and 9 width on the rear. Thats why Im more concerned about putting the same size tire on all 4 wheels.
the size Im thinking about putting on all 4 wheels is :
245/50-18
Comments ? Anyone used this size on their staggered wheels ? Or any size that isnt the stock 245/45-18 front and the 255/45-18 rear ???

In theory, it's possible. If a +/-3% error in the diameter is acceptable, you need to know the maximum and minimum widths each rim can accommodate. Since both are 18", the front would be fitted with a tire at its maximum width, and the rear with one at its minimum. But I suspect there might be another problem: the synchronization of the rotation sensors. I suppose they're programmed to distinguish between the tire sizes permitted in the vehicle registration document and could give an error in other cases (can anyone confirm or deny this suspicion?). I have these rims and haven't considered this issue, as I specifically like the front tires to be narrower than the rear ones. I also have a set of 17" rims, but since I couldn't find a 245 width, I fitted 235s. I suspect the sensors gave me an error that I attributed to the change in tire size. But it's just a suspicion; I have no confirmation. I hope someone can confirm or deny this.
