Default P0197 2001 XKR which part is it sensor, or switch?

i got a p0197 warning. having had to replace quite a few sensor related items over the past years, i was thinking (or hoping) a bad sensor is the most likely.
I looked at the very informative pages here, but im a bit confused. am i looking for a sensor or a EOTS switch? is there in fact asensor on the xkr 2001 ? i cant seem to find any sensor online for sale?

TY for any help! last year i was saved by this forum with malfunctioning mirrors!

The P0917 is a problem with the shift position circuit. This may a problem in the transmission rotary switch on the side of the tranny which translates the physical gearshift position into an electrical shift command. You can pull the cable connector on it and clean it up with contact cleaner. If this doesn't work, you may need to do more investigation. These have ben known to wear out but they are expensive, it would pay to have a pro look at it.

Engine OIL Temp Sensor (EOTS)
Fault with sensor circuit, substitutes COOLANT temp for Engine Management.

TY
it mentions the EOTS, which i presume is the sensor, as a possible.
i also see this has the A 7 engine. in another thread (on xj which came up on the xk threads) it mentioned that there were no real sensors on the xj until the aj27 engine.

It says it's a thermistor, so it's not a switch, it's a type of variable resistor, however before buying parts you might want to take the old one off and test it with a multimeter.
