Cannot start my 2001 XK8, when I put the key into the ignition all the indicators on the dash light up, but when I turn the key to start the car ...Nothing!

1. So far I have fitted a brand new Battery, charged to 13.6V.
2. Lock the car with the key at drivers door then went to trunk and opened with key only....car alarm goes Off!
3. On the battery, Disconnect both positive and negative terminals touch both together for 5 minutes put they back on battery go to start the car...Nothing!
4. Check voltage levels, buy new battery, charge overnight gives 13.6v
5. My "Indie" is now suggesting it could be the "Exciter Ring" which reads the chip in the key??....is this a likely solution??....ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS WILL BE MOST WELCOME!

Solved the problem, had the car towed to the Jag dealer in Orlando and for $125 they reprogrammed the key and the car now starts!!

 

I have seen cars that just 'FORGOT' the configured keys.
Must some queertronics going on?
