Default Parking brake

I have a 2001 xk8 with 30k miles. I lifted the parking brake while I was detailing the car and I cannot remove the brake light and disengage the parking brake.

Try pressing the button and pulling up hard on the handle, hold the button and lower the handle.

Welcome to the forum Floridajag01,

I've deleted your duplicate of this question from Jaguar Forums Feedback & Suggestion Centre.

Are you following the correct handbrake release procedure?

Lift the lever fully until you can feel it under tension and then press the release button.
