Default Part on 97 XK8 conv.

What is this part.... it has an electric connection and a vacuum line. The vacuum line runs under the intake to the front of the engine and connects to a fitting on the left side valve cover. I broke the vacuum line and would like to know what is does.

The piece you are looking for I think is the Part Load Breather Tube. It comes off the Left Cam cover travels under the manifold and at the rear of the manifold it TEES off for a short hose to the throttle body and continues down to the wheel arch cover to the vapor recovery canister. Attached is a picture for comparison. You will need the special plastic U-Shaped tool to release the couplings. One should be stored on the cam cover connector and one on the throttle body connector.
At least that's where mine are kept. Let me know if you need a picture of the tool.

I posted an answer to your other post. The vacuum line you broke is most likely the Part Load Breather line it runs from the front cam cover underneath the manifold to a TEE that goes to the throttle body and continues to the fuel vapor canister.
If you broke a line on the purge valve it doesn't go forward to cam cover.

Check you other post and you will see a picture of it.

If the moderators happen along they may be kind enough to combine your 2 posts
