Question Part confirmation please.

I have the chance of a second hand gearbox ( for my XK8 1999 coupe ) for a reasonable price, but have to travel quite a way to collect it. I have been told it is a low mileage box, under 40k miles but the pic shows where a part has been snapped off, I think it is where the oil cooler pipe fits, can someone confirm that is correct please or advise what part fits here ( red ring )? I am hedging my bets buying this box as I am not sure the oil change on purchase will cure the bumping and fault experienced on my car. This is a XJ8 box and I believe it is O.K to use in a XK8, the oil has been checked and is a red/brown colour.
If the above is correct just for peace of mind I will buy the box and take a chance on it, any comments much appreciated.

Cheers,

ArtyH

From the drawing in the JTIS you appear to be correct.

It's the fluid from Transmission to Oil Cooler pipe outlet (item 1):

A carefully removed transmission would have the outlet and return pipes plugged.

Talking

A quick update, picked up the transmission yesterday, and got the provenance for the scrapped vehicle, apparently the previous owner had not topped up the engine oil and seized it with 38k miles on a 2001 XJ8 so it is parts now. This purchase was made in case the oil change in my 1999 XK8 does not resolve the " bump "/ "Jump" when selecting reverse, and as apposed to a rebuild at a local shop estimated at £2k+.
I was given the torque convertor with the unit also and was advised to fit it as a matching pair, I know removing and refitting a torque convertor is extra work, but is it necessary, when there is no reason to suspect my original is faulty? Any thoughts appreciated.
When I bought the trans it came complete with the rotary switch so if all else fails I could sell it to offset the cost of the box to some degree.
Cheers for all the help on my original post re gearbox problems.
Regards,
ArtyH
