Part load breather

Part load breather
Anyone tell me exactly what the part load breather consist of or where I can purchase one? I can find the hose but not breather. Right now I just have piece of plastic in valve cover glued to hose. I'm experiencing excessive oil use and oil in throttle body

I think this is the one for your car:
Jaguar BREATHER HOSE PART LOAD - AJ84880
The "hose" is the part load breather. It gets brittle and cracks causing a vacuum leak.

Actually, maybe the nipple itself would be considered the breather. Either way, the hose is usually the problem unless you have something unique going on. When you take the old one off, look into the hole that goes into the valve cover. Sometimes that little passage gets clogged. You can use a drill bit that will fit in there or something similar to carefully clear it out. Sometimes that hole gets clogged and caused excess oil to get sucked into the intake arm.

Ok, so it sounds like you are looking for this:
I always thought of that as part of the valve cover, but it does have that o-ring, so hopefully you can find it separately. Maybe someone has a part number for it. If you can not find it you can always buy a used valve cover on ebay for about $100

The Part Load Breather is a calibrated orifice (3/32" diameter) that acts as a PCV Valve. It draws Crankcase Vapors into the intake plenum vacuum (after the Throttle Plate).

The inside does not usually get damaged as far as I know. If you make sure the little hole is not clogged (you can clear it out with a small drill bit if it is) then all you should need is an air tight connection to the part load breather hose. That should theoretically function the same as stock. You should be able to make something that would work pretty easily depending on how exactly yours is damaged.
Or just buy a used valve cover, this is just an example, you can probably find cheaper:
1999 XJ8 XK8 Jaguar Valve Cover Driver Oil Fill Side 4 0L Good Condition | eBay
If you need to do the tensioners anyway then I would replace the valve cover.
If the hole was clogged it could have been the cause, or at least a contributor, of excessive oil into the intake tube through the full load breather hose (this is my understanding based on reading the forum before cleaning this out myself, hopefully someone more knowledgeable can confirm that).

Some additional information about the part load breather for anyone referencing thread. The part load breather is pressed in to the valve cover. They used a little bit of sealant to make sure it didn't leak. It is very difficult to remove but it is possible if you are careful and patient enough. It is fairly easy for this orifice to get clogged on higher mileage engines. A normal 2 inch long 3/32nd drill bit is sufficient to clean it out. Be careful not to drop the drill bit inside.

for some reason there is a cutoff on later VINs for the periodic cleaning out the orifice with the drill bit. mine is after that cutoff. do not have any problems. note that on any car with a perfectly working crankcase ventilation system there will be some oil in the intake manifold. it is my opinion that the engineers assume this and allow it knowing that there is some lubricating quality and possible protection if any abrasive gets into the intake system.
