Default Part number

Hi the large plastic cover that covers the whole top of the engine looks like it should be joined together at the rear by the firewall with some kind of clip. Anyone have a part number an does it just slide in or would there be screws too?
many thanks
Alan

For what it is worth here is the part number NJA1819AC. It is a rubber sleeve that joins the ends. The unit is no longer made and only available from a parts car that might still have one. Maybe I should try to figure out a rubber sleeve that would work. I wonder how many like me needs one.

Known as an Engine Cover Spacer. There's a used one listed on ebay in Fort Wayne, IN if you're quick:

Most of us, I suspect. I've only ever seen one picture of a motor with that in place. Looks like a piece of bicycle inner tube might work.

$10 + $25 postage to Europe? Er - I'm good, thanks.

If the pictures are that rare, here's another example on my 2001 XK8:

I suspect that, because they are awkward to refit, many don't bother.

I still have mine - I didn't realise how charmed I am! Maybe I'll glue it to one side of the covers so that I don't lose it.

Thanks, Vern,
It looks like it's a moulded piece, but even a strip of inner tube will be less offensive to my OCD than the loose ends (sad, I know).
