I need the plastic piece that has the shift pattern on it, shifter comes up through it. Mine is cracked with a piece missing. It has wiring for illumination. My ride is a 2000 xk8. If anyone can help me out it will be appreciated. Note; i have photos of a xk8 in Birmingham AL. that's a parts donor. Unfortunately ,the part I needed has been robbed. I also think Mike is right (post #4) about this not being available separately but it may be worth checking with the dealer as the Parts Catalogue is not clear:



Can't make out whether Item 3 is the plastic selector gate section or the illumination module inside it.

In any event, it's likely to be a frightening cost and a used part looks the best option.

Will the same part from an X308 fit? I don't think local junk yards have XK8s in them.

 

XJ part will work (If it looks the same in this case it is the same) . I replaced mine with one from an XJ8 for $60 from ebay. The part is not sold separately and is in the realm of $600!!

 

Damn! You essentially pay $600 for everything else you don't need. I doubt that plastic part cost Jag more than $1.50 to produce.

 

I have the same problem. Would it have cost them so much to use a metal gate trim, like ...... Dodge and Honda?

 

I too, need this part. I thought I had it tough over here looking for the part at reasonable price. However, I think the XJ8 part will fit.
