Default passenger door status

Has anyone seen the following:
My 2003 XK8 convert just started giving me a "passenger door open" warning, even though the door is clearly shut. If I run the window down, the message goes away. Run it all the way up, the message comes back after the window does the gap adjustment. I noticed that the gap adjustment action moves the window up, but then drops it slightly - that is when the message comes on. I have done the electronic window adjustment procedure with no improvement. I am guessing I will need to get into the door and make sure all the regulator adjuster bolts are tight and adjust if necessary. Thoughts?

You may have a failing door latch assembly microswitch. When they start to get flaky, all sorts of seemingly unrelated symptoms can occur....

Jon look how close he is. Does he have A/C garage?
If all else fails get the Thread we did on Jon's wife's car. It should help, but not solve your problem right away.

Actually, I just moved the car to our new digs in Northern Kentucky.... I will update the address on my profile.

Update: it's been dry in northern Kentucky for a while and the "passenger door open" message is gone for some time now - as suggested, moisture in a sensor must be the culprit. The car will soon be back in the garage since we've dispatched most of our moving boxes that ended up there. Also, the passenger door latch replacement project will start sometime soon.
