Passive security handshake
hi all.
im trying to fix a no crank no start fault. On my 2004 coupe xk8. My question is
when the key is in the ignition on (run position) and the fuel pump is running, can I assume all of the security handshakes with the key have happened and the car is ready to proceed to the start/crank position?
thanks for any help.

It won't crank unless all the security prerequisites have been satisfied.
Is there a history here of some work done prior, or did the car just decide not to play?
Thanks for the replies. They seem a little ambiguous. Please allow for my poor question. I was hoping for a definative yes or no answer. Prior to putting the key into the crank position. Can I please rephrase it.If all lights, etc and the fuel pump is running, can I assume that all passive security measures have been met?
