Perplexed
I am in the process of installing a radar detector. I am trying to connect the detector wires to a ground wire and a wire that is hot to the ignition the in the overhead/rearview mirror wiring cluster. I found a black wire which is the ground and another wire that is hot when the ignition is on. The problem is, my voltmeter shows -12v. So I figured I connected the meter leads incorrectly, and placed the leads on a 1.5v battery. It read 1.5v. Years ago my Healey's were positive ground, but it appears in the Owner's Manual that the Jag is negative ground.
I tried to delete this message but could not figure how to do it. I found a different hot wire with an +12v reading.

Got any pictures of the finished product? How much more viability do you lose? It seems the rear view mirrors in these cars already are a big blind spot, although it could just be that I'm 6'8" and have my head higher than most in these cars.

I cannot figure out how to show thumbnails of the images. So I have placed links to high-res pics of the installation. The first is an interior view of the detector, the second and exterior view, and the third is the view for 6 ft. driver.
