Default Perseus, Sepang or Apollo Wheels

Hey all,

I've been watching eBay for quite some time but haven't had any luck (all of the full sets are off of X350 XJs it seems...). I thought I'd check here too.

My 05 is fitted with the Aris 18" wheels, but they're in need of tires and refinishing thanks to the PO. So, I though this would be a good time to upgrade.

Looking for a full set of either the Sepang, Perseus or Apollo wheels. My Aris set will be available for sale/trade too. Anyway, sorry to post this here and in the marketplace but sometimes it seems requests like this get more attention here.

Sepangs are where it's at, but good luck finding a set at a decent price. I've been trying for those or a set of Atlas' for the last few weeks. Gave up, having my double fives refinished and throwing on new meats this week.

Well, since my cars in storage until late April, I figure I'lll look until then. But I agree, the Sepangs are by far my favorite. Best price I've found so far is over $3k, which I simply can't justify. I might as well just sell my XK8 and use that and the extra 3k to buy a victory edition already equipped with them (ok it might take a little more $.. But you get the idea..)

If you sell your 18", let me know.

I really like my chromed double fives. I suspect they are the best looking.

Where can I see what these different types look like?

This probably isn't an exhaustive list, but It's the closest I've found to having them all in one place across all of the model years

New Used & Refinished Factory Aluminum Rims Wheels JAGUAR XK XK8 XKR XKRS R SILVERSTONE COUPE CONVERTIBLE Alloy Wheels OEM OE Jaguar Original Factory Aluminum Wheels Philadelphia PA NJ DE NY MD CT VA MA OH DC NC Alloy Used Wheels Rims Sales 1997 1998

If you want a complete listing, the best bet would be to locate and download the Accessories PDFs for each model year. They list all of the wheel options. This is the one for MY 2005

And thanks, I'll keep you in mind if I manage to come across some new ones. By most people's standards they're in fine shape.. I'm just a perfectionist (Its an $$$ tendency to have haha)

I'm curious, does anyone know what would be involved to fit X350 Sepang wheels onto our XKs?

Wheel adaptors to get the correct bolt pattern, as with current Jaguar wheels.

That's what I've figured...don't really want to go that route. Follow up question: Is there any reason why Apollo wheels from an '04 XK8 wouldn't fit my '05? I've found conflicting information that things changed....

Wheels from all 97-06 cars will interchange without issue.

A word of caution for anyone considering buying used split rim alloys.

This is my 2005 XK8 4.2-S Final Series (same as the US Victory Edition) which was fitted with Sepangs as OE specification.

I keep the inside of my wheels as clean as the outside. This is what I found when I cleaned the front pair:

Severe corrosion all around the perimeter on the inner lip of the main rim and also where the outer rim meets the main rim.

Wheel refurbishment specialists wouldn't touch them because they couldn't be sure they would survive the dismantling and stripping process. My only alternative was new replacements at £1500 ($2500).

Hi

I have a set of Perseus wheels that I am just now offering for sale. They were chromed by the original owners and I had the fronts re-chromed about 4 years ago. They are shod with Hankook Ventus V12s in the original factory sizes - 255/20/35 fronts and 285/20/30 rear. The tires all have around 4mm of tread left so there is a little life left in them.

PM me for more details. They are located 35 miles east of Los Angeles and I can arrange transport on a pallet from a facility with a fork lift if required. I can get an exact quote for shipping as and when.

There are pics of each wheel below:

Regards

Nick

Nick, Thanks for your post. I do believe those are actually the Montreal wheels. See below for a picture of the Perseus style. I personally am looking for wheels in the original finish, but I'm sure those will find a good home soon for someone looking for chrome!

I vote Perseus. I like 'em better. They're sportier than the Sepangs, which while elegant, are a little more old mannish. I think they're best on the VDPs.

Interesting viewpoint... never thought of the Sepangs as "old mannish." But I can see where you're coming from. The Perseus ones are more sporty. But it may not matter for me... finding a full set of either is near impossible (and expensive!). I may settle for the Apollo wheels. These are the best looking non-BBS wheels from the X100 I think, and are still rare as they were only made for 2 years and in limited quantities. May have found a set... in Scotland..
