....unfortunately no luck so far. Leaving the car at the charger the current consumption this morning is still at 0,7A

The local Jauguar Technician I rang recommended to repeat the lock down procedure again with the amp connected, as this might prevent the system going into sleep.

So I just opened the car with the keyfob, connected the Amp and locked the car with the keyfob again. Current is again at 1,8A.

At least I do now know where the sound comes from: it's a fan inside the amp .... which might need replacement soon as the noise comes from the bearing.

Anyone around who can help me out with complete wiring diagram of my type of car?

Never heard of tripping the trunk latch with a screwdriver, or did you mean trick? Sticking a screwdriver in the gap making the trunk think its closed?

I know what he meant: the bracket of the lid gets caught by the lock mechanism and turns a hook locking it. You can turn the hook with a screwdriver making it turn around.

Default Check Stickies at top of list of threads

Ralf,

Try the “Stickies” at top of threads. I found an electrical guide for my 1999 XK8 there. You’ll need a later edition as you have the Premium options on your car.

There is a a good search function on this forum but it depends on how the thread was tagged. As an example your title on your thread doesn’t help someone else find out about a bad amp.

Good luck.

Default Check out this thread for electrical guide for 2004 XK8 Premium Audio

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ersion-161486/

In 20 April 2016 dennysjag posted a thread entitled “2000 XK8Convertible Premium Sound Conversion.

Neatcat responded and attached a PDF for the 2004 XK8 Electrical Guide Premium Audio.

Maybe that will help you.

Thanks a lot David! One step further! However the schema attached to that thread covers the non-navigation option. But I guess this will also help further.

Of course, my car has the navigation .... even it has the adaptive distance radar ... and it works! I already started to love this car, but to develop this feeling in full amount there are 2 or three items left I need to fix.
Current consumption is by far the most important one.

After the easter days I will look for a proper OBDC diagnostic equipment . Maybe also something to spot on that end for tracing the bug.

Edit: in between I got the full Schematic! http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa.../jagxk2003.pdf

Cool Stuff!

Next step: check status of "ignition positive relay" in trunk fuse box....

FOUND IT!

After a couple of measurements and fuse pulling I can confirm the Amp to be okay.
If I pull the Fuse from the Head-Unit, the Amp remains silent. This is in line what I expected.... something else kept the amp active.

Current Consumption goes down to 45mA after 20mins. - Bingo!

So this means the HeadUnit is faulty?

Default Bingo! Now to check the radio head unit....

Great news. Try pulling the head unit and check rear contacts. You’ll have to remove entire Centre console which is a real bugger of a job, to remove the radio head unit.

There’s a you tube video for this by the eminent Rev. Sam (ref. sam1174 on youtube)

It should look something like this

Check other threads on removing the J Gate gear stick module as that’s the first thing you’ll need to do.

Gentlemen! :-)

After a week of easter holiday on a boring ship and a foollowing week of intense work backlog I'm now back at my favourite item of iterest.

Finally the reaming papers and items arrived at my desk and proof that the car had a single owner with a full service history until February 2018...

Today the German Notified Body called me and told my technical paper to be ready for having the car legally registered in Germany. That's a great success!

However: what's missing is a picture of my tyre pressure sticker. I looked for it on the inside of the Petrol Tank Flap, in the Boot, both door pillars and right and left of the dashboard. No luck so far.
Any idea where it is typically located?

And as soon I manage to transfer the pictures, I can show you the cleanest and dryest car from underneath what I've ever seen with such a mileage! Very impressive!
Only the welding seams of the exhaust show some signs of minor leakage and need to be re-welded. This will be one of the first jobs beside the radio head unit issue...

Check under the arm rest lid.

I would remove the arm rest box and surround trim. This is where the big yellow radio plug is, and where you would typically install any type of satellite/Bluetooth adapter. The fact that the trim between the seats does not match with the rest of the dash is a hint that someone has been there before, possibly. Separately, there are a number of "hacks" to be done to the radio to be able to bring external sound in, like cassette adapters, etc. Maybe if the radio "thinks" there is a cassette stuck in, it does not turn off.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Default Start new different threads with specific jobs/problems

Ryan,

Glad you’re back on the case. Hope you “title” the car successfully and sort out the radio, and exhaust.

just a small bit of advice in using this forum. Start new titled threads for different things. It makes the response more targeted as members have different experiences and will respond.

Plus us let us know what you learn, as this can help someone else. I’m still looking at threads way dated way back in 2011 for guidance.
