Heh - luckily (and incredibly), the valves managed to dance around the pistons until I got it sorted. Runs like a champ now, albeit with a permanent tick from damage caused by a timing chain mishap a couple of owners ago. Should have it at a couple of shows this summer, once I get the oil pressure switch and coolant expansion bottle/sensor sorted.
