Default To the positive side of this forum

I've owned my 97 XK8 for over 5 yrs now and have never had a check light come on or any major problems what so ever. I change to oil when it needs it and just drive and enjoy. This has to be one of the better cars that I have owned. The car now has 105k on it. The tensioners were done before I got it. To all that make this forum possible, THANK YOU for all your great work.

And thank YOU for posting such a gorgeous photo! It's all members that make this such a great site, and the contributions by all.

You're right--we probably tend to overly focus on the negative here. It is usually the so-called "enthusiasts" that are members of car forums so you are getting an audience that is probably pickier than most. Add to that the fact that it is just human nature to post on a forum seeking a solution to some problem-du-jour rather than taking the time out to say "gee it is a nice day and the car is just fine".

BJJ - Thanks for the positivity.........nice you take the time to make this post here for all to see.

Doug - I don't think we're too negative here, although generally by their nature forums tend to be negative places to hang out.
I like to think we get a slightly better than average balance here, but then again I am biaised I guess....lol

Going on 3+ years with no real issues. Just changed the oil this morning and it still looks nice and clean. Even these early "problematic" cars can be very reliable.

Hey Jim--I didn't mean to say we were a negative bunch--quite the opposite.

What I meant is that if you peruse any number of different types of forums, whether car or stereo equipment or vacuum cleaners (yes I visited the Roomba forum) what you will mostly find are questions about how to solve the problems that people are having. So somebody visiting this Jaguar forum or the Corvette forum (which I still lurk around) or the Roomba forum could come to the conclusion that Jaguars/Corvettes/Roombas, etc. are trouble-ridden.

Yeah, but at least on the Jaguar and Roomba forums they don't talk about how awesome Lloyd's mats are.

I would never have dared buy a Jaguar, if I hadn't been able to rely on this forum for advice on keeping it going.

Same here. This forum is the most important tool in my toolbox for keeping both our S-Type and our XK8 in excellent operating condition at minimum cost. I thank each and every contributing member here for that. This is by far the best automotive forum I have ever joined. The Dodge Ram forum I'm on is quite good, but it doesn't come close to matching the friendships that are formed here....
