Default Power Steering Pump - Pulley Movement

Regarding my 2001 XK8: I noticed that sometimes the running serpentine belt system would show a small amount of wobble on the power steering pump pulley. Sometimes it runs true, but often there is noticeable runout (is that the right term, for movement in a radial direction?) and I have a pile of belt debris on the hoses adjacent to the belt/pully at the side of the engine compartment.

I removed the serpentine belt and manually moved the PS pump pulley about, and find that it isn't loose, but there is a spongey movement in some directions. This can't be normal, can it? There's no noise, no issues with the steering, just this movement of the pulley and collection of belt debris.

My conclusion is that the pump assembly is on its way out, and needs to be replaced. It seems a straightfoward job to replace, with the instructions from JTIS to remove any air from the system afterwards.

Am I missing anything?

Thanks,
Steve

Wow, I would have never suspected. They looked snug, but you never can tell from looking. I will check the pulley bolts!
Thanks,
Steve

I'm trying to remove the power steering pulley on a 01 Jaguar s-type. Is there a bolt or nut that holds it in place, or is it just that difficult to remove? I'm using a pulley remover, but it is still not coming off. Any suggestions?
