Default Question about brakes for a 2003 xkr

Hey all,

I've been trying to figure this out for a while now, and I've tried searching, but I'm just getting myself more confused.

I've been told by the dealership that my 2003 xkr needs new rotors and pads, front and rear. Since I don't want to pay $1700 to have this done I need to source the parts myself. I've done rotors and pads on my other vehicles, so I'm familiar with the process, but I'm confused as to the size of the rotors. I don't know if my brakes are Brembo or not. All I know is the current rotors which may or may not be original are not slotted or drilled. My calipers have the XKR badging.

Can anyone please suggest a method for determining what the right size front and rear rotors are? (Besides measuring - the car is currently at the dealer for other issues). Thanks!

How about asking the dealer to measure them for you? The worst the can say is no.

I have Brembos on a similarish car (STR) - they are very obviously not the non-Brembos and any pics of your calipers would show you I expect.

Once you know you can then worry about size

The brake components are VIN-specific. The Brembo discs, vented and non-cross drilled have JLR part number C2N3428 for the front and C2N2360 for the rear.

Remember to check the parts listing against your vehicle's VIN to verify correct fitment.

That is the Brembo kit. 355mm front, 330mm rear. Jaguar offered the normal/flat/solid rotor with silver calipers option in 2003. I believe they offered the red caliper with drilled rotors later. There is always Jaguar for parts, but also some after-market options. Then there are smaller outfits with Jaguar parts.

Maybe earlier than that, l have 2000 xkr "with R features" always had cross drilled rotors with silver calipers.

Check Brakeperformance.com for your parts. I've been using their products for years on many vehicles. Great quality and prices. Also excellent customer service

Rock Auto has a Centric brand 4 wheel kit that will fit your Brembo XKR for under $400.

Also have just front or rear kits for about $200.
