Hello All,Just recently purchased a 2003 xk8 with 21000 original miles.After getting inspected (passed) and drivind a few times,noticed a coolant leak
on passenger side under hood about eight inches forward the firewall.Leak comes from this black plastic coupler that connects to a metal pipe going to the front and a rubber hose that takes a y as it travels to the firewall. Can I just remove this coupler and clamp it off to the metal pipe,or does it serve a particular purpose? The assembly is just under the air intake hose, passenger side. Thanks in advance.Pics to follow soon.

That is called a norma connector, lots of manufactures used this system on air conditioning and fuel lines. Research it and you might be able to get away with a "O" ring. I think Gus has a good section on his site about this very thing.

The connector is there for quick connection on the assembly line. The problem is a simple 'O' ring but it is very difficult to release the connector to get to it.
