Default Question about Horns

My friend's 2000 XKR has one horn not working. They are easy enough to get to and I have checked the fuses and they are fine. Someone has suggested that the problem with the horn could be fixed by some screw adjustment on the horn. I believe that many older car horns could be adjusted this way to work. Is there such a screw adjustment on these horns? Or perhaps they are a sealed module and that the only fix is to replace.

Thanks

Tom in Plano/Dallas

Tone adjustment is a thing of the past. Note there is one High Tone and one Low Tone horn fitted. Be sure to order the corrrect one.

Low Tone: LJA4000AA
High Tone: LJA4001AA

Why not just go to an auto store and buy a horn , or a matched set. Probably cheaper and our X100s have quite 'ordinary' horns

Thanks. What my friend was suggesting was that a screw adjustment on older styled horns was to somehow make contact when rust would get inside. He is like old school from the 70 and 80's on cars and a touch behind the newer items. I see no screw adjustment on these horns whatsoever, except how tight the attachment bolt would be.

Agree, but not my car and you can see in the previous answer I am dealing with an old school guy, who does not keep up with newer cars and 2000 is a newer car for him.

I feel for ya with the old school guy! I mention stuff to my father in law about ordering parts online and he "knows all kinds of places around here can fet them for ya". Smh! I ordered my two horns on amazon for about $25 total. I got the FIAAM basic horns and they work great

From personal experience, you can just swap in the corresponding horn from a 1998-2003 XJ8/R; they'll point in the wrong direction relative to the original XK8 horn, but the sound will still get to its intended target. Maybe that'll be okay with your old-school friend.
