Question: how to use EVAP smoke machine tester?
So, I got a smoke machine to test for and find a small leak in the EVAP system. Code P0442.
A couple of questions.
Where is the ideal place to hook up the smoke hose?
Can I use regular compressed air? I read not to use compressed air but only use CO2 or Nitrogen.

If you haven't replaced this little hose yet you should probably check there. The smoke machine seems like overkill until you do.

Hey Rothwell, so I did as you described and it looks fine to me. I don't see any cracks looking up at it. But, the rubber is hard for sure. I should probably remove the canister to inspect the other side of the hose. I'm still going to run the smoke machine once I figure out which hoses I should plug it into. Thanks for the advice.

I just received my smoke machine (Stinger Smoke Machine. About $150 on Amazon) and I traced my code P0442 to the Carbon Canister hose elbow right at the body of the canister. My system has two canisters. The leak was on the driver side (USA) canister.
I have to say that smoke machine made it super easy to find the leak. It appears to be the only leak in the system.
Anyone know if that is just an o-ring seal or do I have to get a new can?

Whoa. NJC6026AD Vapor Pipe is not available anymore. But, the pipe looks good to me.
The leak is at the juncture between the pipe fitting and the canister itself. Can I just pull the fitting out and install an o-ring? I'm sure I can find an o-ring that will fit. Or do I just epoxy the fitting to the canister to close the leak?

BTW, if anyone wants to know where to attach the smoke machine. I removed the EVAP purge valve assembly in the driver side wheel well, plugged the lines and ran the smoke through the pipe closest to the front of the car coming from the engine bay (I found no leaks with the other pipes). Went around to the back of the car (which is on jacks) and saw the smoke pouring out of the fitting.
