Default Radiator removal - help help!

Ok my car was still getting got so I thought the radiator could need to be replaced since I already did the thermostat and water pump. When removing it the bottom line driver side us model came off oil came out. Is this for the transmission cooler or is this mean my new engine needs nes head gaskets? Please help asap. Thank you!!!

Transmission oil is cooled through the radiator so that was an oil cool er line (there is one on top and one on the bottom)

If it's a metal pipe it was the transmission line.

Are you sure the cooling system has been completely bled? (heater on full, bring up to temp , then add coolant to the filler neck, let cool down and refill again) I would also recommend buying a pressure tester- one of the best purchases I have made tool-wise.

You did not give the reason or diagnostic steps used to determine you needed a new radiator, so may be too late to suggest alternatives.

Assuming you are in the process of changing it, there are several How To threads on the forum if you search.

Attached is the procedure for the 2001 XK8. Should be the same basic procedure for all models. Hope it helps.

You'll see I've edited your thread title to add detail on the specific help you need.

When asking for HELP, putting some detail in the title helps everyone else to see immediately if it's a post on a topic that interests them, one where they have expertise or are looking for the same information.

Sorry guys its been a while since ive been able to work on the jaguar. I traded my gsxr 600 and some cash on top for a 2004 zx10 . Soooooooooo happy with it sooooooo daaaaammn fast. 0 to 100 in 5 seconds and thats only first gear! Anyway the reason I knew the radiator was bad is because I noticed the hose that was swelling had a trickle. I gently as possible tried to remove the hose even opening the expansion tank cap to release the pressure the plastic piece snapped right off. It was rotted. I imagine this was allowing air to get into the system and also the reason I kept losing coolant!. So I got the new raidator in and you guys I feel like a complete dumbass. I forgot to hook the transmission cooler line back up and ended up having 3 qts of transmission fluid on the floor. God I feel so stupid. I always get ancy and excited when im nearing the end of the job. I also replaced the hose. I haven't driven the car nor ran it because of the out pour of transmission fluid. I know guys I Shouldve checked back with you all and taken it slowly. Two 25 pound bags of kitty litter and my garage is clean again. I saw reverend sams video on adding the fluid amd changing the pan. Im going to do his method with the jack stands and make sure its level however I was wondering if all the zf fluid is the same. There is some for bmws and other cars. Im willing to pay 20 a qt even though that sounds idiotic. I just want to fill her back up but my car is an 01. Is the plug to add fluid in the same place on the 5hpz24? I really dont feel like taking it to the guy who fixed it because it would have to be towed and I feel as though its something I could do because I have the same tools as sam. Sorry for the mess up guys and the late reply I feel like a complete moron. The fluid that came out though was awfully dark. Looked like really used oil so I might go ahead and drain it and change it all. Please give me some tips on what I can do guys and if the procedure is the same. Again I feel like ive neglected my poor jaguar but I dont think I damaged it because once I saw the puddle I immediately shut it off and cleaned it up. So im assuming
Step 1 drain tranny fluid
Step 2 put back in drain plug
Step 3 loosen the same fill plug as sam
Step 4Fill the fluid until it drips out a bit.
Step 5 start the car and shift it through the gears while on jack stands still.
Question: do I leave it in drive or shift it through the gears a few times then place it back in park?
Step 6 add fluid while its running
Step 7 once the case reaches 40c and fluid trickles out seal the fill plug back in.
Does this sound like an appropriate plan? Thank you all for your support and patience.
Joel

You have it right. Leave it in neutral.

Top tip- I found it easier to replace the *known* missing amount of fluid through the upper radiator hose with the engine off using a rubber hose and funnel. After that, I warmed it up and did the normal fill routine.

Don't feel bad, I spilled transmission oil testing a newly installed engine on *two* separate occasions.... I am a slow learner...
