Default Radio code?

Do I need a code to make my radio work again after disconnecting the battery? I'm not in that predicament yet, but I want to have the code just in case. If I do need a code, is that something the dealer charges for?

no code needed, they stopped doing the code on American market cars several years before ours.

Thanks! That's good to know. I removed the passenger seat yesterday without disconnecting the battery, but now that I'm getting ready to put it back in, I starting thinking that maybe disconnecting the battery is a good idea.

So does anyone know when exactly they stopped doing the code thingy for American market cars? My 2000 doesn't need a code.

My 2002 Owner's manual, and associated docs includes a radio code - If I ever need it!??? - I've really never understood it, or used it, but I sure save it! DaleD

I've had the battery disconnected, radio removed, reinstalled (prior to the current aftermarket radio) and no code was ever needed. Again, probably part of the car delivery package, but depending on the market, that determined if it was used.
