Radio Interference problem XKR AM band
My 1999 XKR has terrible AM reception due to some sort of interference. It's weird because it usually stops when the vehicle stops moving then commences again when you move off (engine is running all the time).
Sometimes though it doesn't cease even when you come to a halt. It drives me nuts... anyone have any ideas?
(Forgive me for listening to AM radio but we are a bit simple down here in Oz).
Regards, Andrew.H

AM can be fun up here too: politics, preachers, learn a foriegn language.
I'm at a loss on the moving v. not moving part, but the first thing to check might be the antenna connection and its grounding.
Does the noise seem to depend on engine speed?
Does this happen on all stations?
Good luck.

I am going to assume that the power antenna is actually raising.
Adding to Dennis' comment, if you remove the carpet wall in the boot near the antenna, you will see the antenna is grounded with a braided strap to the chassis. I would remove that bolt and clean the conenction with some sandpaper and reassemble it.

Way back in the olden days, cars had "Static Suppressors" in the Wheels.
These were small spiral devices that were mounted in the Wheels to make sure that the Wheels and Hubcaps (remember Hubcaps?) were Grounded.
However, they only reduced static that occurred while the vehicle was in motion.
