Ok so i reset the codes after i cleaned the throttle body connectors and the code has not come back only the o2 sensor code is still there. i still had the engine light on so i did a "hard reset" and the light cleared next time i drove it the light come back and i have got the o2 sensor code again.

what i can't understand is that i have had a new sensor fitted but the code won't go away p1646? and does this code make the engine management light stay on?

the only good thing is it hasn't stalled on me since i cleaned the maf sensor and throttle body. touch wood.

It appears that if the ECM senses the problem on two consecutive drive cycles it will set the CEL.

it was a similar problem but his was solved with a new throttle body as it had the tps sensor problem. it did have that code but i cleaned the connections and it hasn't come back so don't think it is the throttle body.

i have been thinking about terra clean but for now i am going to try some bg44k cleaner and see if that helps, i have heard it can solve a lot of problems when people can't locate the exact fault so its worth a try to see if it stops this shakey engine.

i seem to solve one thing and another pops up, i can't wait to have no worries when driving this car.

It can just be a fault in the wiring.

Im sure its faulty wiring as it has had new sensors in the last year or so, is P1646 a certain sensor that i can check the wiring too. where is the ground located for these sensors?

also i just read that this code P1646 can mean a faulty fuel pump and not the o2 sensors depending on which car you have?

That's what Ed had to deal with on the XK8 Wheeler Dealer episode isn't it? I posted it up on here some time ago.
Hey Steevo, i put my car into the Jag Indie on Goldhawk Rd Shepherds Bush this week, i pick it up on Monday - might be worth u popping in for their opinion.

No. on the wheeler dealer episode he got the throttle body sensor fault after taking it to a jaguar dealer. so had a new throttle body. this code im getting either relates to a faulty fuel pump as a few have said or o2 lamba sensor or wiring fault.

this code is not effecting normal running its just keeping the mil light on so im not too worried, the occasional stalling when starting from cold has gone i think i solved it by cleaning the maf and throttle body including all the connectors going to the throttle body and fixing a hole in the air intake flexi tube and torqing the spark plugs in as they were only in hand tight!!!!!!!!!

i have replaced the o2 sensors so maybe p1646 is related to the fuel pump
