Rear main seal blown out
The rear main seal blew out the back of the engine. I’m having it replaced, but am concerned as to the root cause.
Any suggestions as to where to start?
My thought was to remove the crankcase breather hose (left front of valve cover) and check the 3/32 orfice. My initial thought was the orfice was plugged and allowed pressure to build up in the crankcase! I have to wait for the car to be reassembled first. Are there any other reasons a seal would blow out out her then internal pressure?
