Default Rear quarters.

with luck the car is going in to have the rear lower quarters replaced with repair panels, and also the rear skin sills. Why do they rot on the rear quarters? could it be the vents, and is there a fix to stop this after i have had it repaired. I got caught in the heavy rain yesterday and could not avoid some deep water on the road. When i got back i had a look in boot and found that water had found it's way in.

My understanding is the rubber hoses that act as rain drains get clogged with debris and need to be cleaned. Miatas suffer similar problems, its really just a convertible thing although the use of rubber hoses for this purpose on the jag exacerbates things.

FYI I have one of these brushes for my miata, I also use it for cleaning drains on the jag.

Also useful for cleaning the air gap on your dishwasher so everyone in the house can be happy with this purchase.

There are vents on the back which have a crappy flap on them that normally falls off eventually but even if it doesn't fall off they dont' work very well. They let water and other crap in that just sits there in the rear wheel arches. Not much you can really do about it, I slapped a crap load of paint inside the wheel arch on the passenger side after removing all the surface rust inside to try and protect it which actually helped a lot. The other side where the amp and other radio stuff sits I haven't touched and that's getting worse. Only reason why I didn't do that side as well is because I couldn't work out how to remove the amp and stuff.

There is that little shelf on the bottom of the wheelarch that catches and holds all manner of grit and pebbles, so it's a perfect place for steady erosion and corrosion of the paint and metal.
