On my '97 XK8, I was replacing the passenger fender from a recent unfortunate incident, and in the process noticed this plug was disconnected from ... ?

Anyone know off-hand what this might be? Maybe an accessory running light which was optional on some models?

Something your car was NOT fitted with. (likely the side turn signal lamps?)

It's likely for the indicator side repeater which is not fitted on the earlier US cars (you have the 'leaper' emblem there)

Nice shot of the cruise control reservoirs. They look like something from a WWII submarine on our early models...

Excellent, thank you, it's about what I thought.

It's good to see a bit of fluid in the coolant reservoir, but the level makes me think I should add a bit. Curious that Jaguar decided to hide it behind the wheel well like this.

I was wondering what those submarine-like things were, thank you!

After putting the fender, unfortunately it seems to have been a bit warped during shipping or ... somehow. It's fitting well enough to put her back into service, but I'm going to keep a lookout for a better one. Unfortunately, now all the pinstripes have to come off, I don't think there's any way to transfer them, especially as old as they are. I tried to heat the existing one and slowly remove, but it breaks apart too easily...

You can certainly add coolant up to 50% full with a cold engine if you wish but as long as there is some in there that's fine as well.

A useful tip is that you can actually check that coolant level by shining a torch through the fender gap when the door is open.

Checking the wire colours will confirm if its an indicator ...bottle half full is correct.
