Default Rear Sills Source

Both left and right side rear sills before the rear wheel well are toast. They could be patched but I'm not interested in band-aid fix and would like to source some replacement panels. Anyone sell these or know a source in the US/

The rears sills are part of the quarter panel a $2000.00 part, the inner sill is part of the door assembly around $800.00 very expensive parts from Jaguar, about the only place to get the complete piece. Tony XKR Racer does many patch panels which are satisfactory when done right. I don't know of anybody doing replacement rocker panels. A good restoration or body shop should be able to reproduce the curve with minimal filler.

Well after some extensive searching I found and purchased panels from this site. I will advise regarding the quality when they arrive and are fitted.

This must be the panel you are using?

One of the factors that influenced the decision to sell my XK8 4.2-S late last year was corrosion starting to appear in the rear sills and wheel arches.

At our forum meeting in Glasgow last Saturday, I had the opportunity to examine some XK8/XKR's and noticed rust in the same places.

I'm interested to see what you find when that outer sill section is removed.

That's the first I've seen of patch panels for the XK-8, they look good. Let us know how they work out for you.

My 98 Coupe has also fallen foul of the sill maggot, and I would like to carry out a permanent repair.
Have you had an oppertunity to use these replacement panels? If so how did they work out for you?
Regards,
White Bear.

Great to see these repair panels becoming available.

I'm wondering what bracing would be needed on a convertible if you cut out that section of the rear sill, as it must be one of the major structural parts.

As you note I have purchased the panels but to date I have not installed them. I am in the process of a restoration and have started with the drive train https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...1999my-116832/ upon completion I will be moving onto the body and will photograph all of the repairs so you should be able to see it on the link above in about a month or two.
