Default rear sub-woofer

I recently purchased a 1998 XK8 conv. I am really impressed with this car and trying to get more familiar with the upkeep, etc.

First, I blew one of the rear woofers... was wondering if someone recently replaced/upgraded and had one i could get fairly inexpensive?

Also, looking for a maintenance or shop manual, and haven't had much luck so far. Would appreciate information on preferred one and where available.

Thanks,

John

You can often get a full workshop manual on CD Rom from EBay.
Not expensive, around £5 but it's a copy.
There are several on there right now.

Or just search 'XK8 WORKSHOP MANUAL'.

If you are tech savvy, you can download it here too: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...archive-66011/

This post is aimed at issues on Windows 7 x64, but it should be easy enough on earlier versions of windows.

If you blew the sub-woofer, you only have one, and you can repair it fairly easily for about $13.

Once you have the back seat out, the project is very straight forward from there.

Here is where I did mine: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...r-today-69252/

Search for "sub woofer repair" in the forums.

While the coupes got one subwoofer in the parcel shelf, the convertibles got two 6½" subs in the side panels.

my car looks like there is one on each side of the back seat...

do you know if the rear speakers from a 2002 XKR will fit in my 1998 XK8?

When I replaced mine I found all the needed instructions on these pages, do a search for sub-woofer and Kicker. There's a Kicker model that fits in with a bit of cutting its plastic frame, the sound is good.

With the roof down, remove the seat belt holder bolt and a couple of screws there on the top of the panel. Remove the top piece and you can access the speaker grill bent pieces from inside. Remove the grill carefully and you have full access to the speaker. Was quite easy and quick.
