Rear suspension electrical switch
Along with a good Mechanic and friend, I replaced all the rubber components on the front and rear suspension on my 63k 2003 XK8. When we were working on the removal of the drivers side rear damper and spring assembly we came across a switch that we had to disconnect to open things up. The actuator of this switch was connected to the wishbone and the body of the car; it looks like a potentiometer. Does anyone have any idea what it's for; I am of the opinion that its either for the stability control or abs systems or both?
I look forward to hear from someone on this.

I initially thought so as well, but I believe it is used as input for auto-leveling the headlights.
You'll see there's also another sensor on the front suspension, also part of the headlight levelling system.
In many countries the levelling system is a legal requirement if HID headlights are fitted.
