I am looking for info for my 97 xk8. My mirror is fine except for the fact it does not dim. I think I read there is an led light to indicate it is in auto position, but where is the light? There is a plug behind the mirror that I believe I read is for rain detection, so guess I don't have that. How can I ck and then fix the auto dimming function? Is there a fuse for the dimming part of the mirror. I need a good repair manual with schematics and instructions for jobs like this. I bought a c/d which would not run on win 8. Thanks to all. Those early auto dim mirrors were prone to failure. A previous owner may well have just changed it for a standard non-dimming type.

 

If you have the original mirror there should be a button on the bottom center and the word 'auto' just above it. The led is to the left of the word.
The mirrors were prone to leaking and it may have been replaced.

I have the original or replacement ,it looks like new and has the auto button lower center that pushes upward to turn on. Will ck farther for more info. Bob
