Guys, the rear view mirror on my 2000XK8 is black half way up. Is there a cure, and if not what's involved in replacing it?

 

Is it actually black? Sometimes the photochromic gel will drip downwards, leaving the upper part clear. Doesn't turn black, though (didn't in my case). Replacing the interior mirror is quite staight forward, and there are threads explaining how to do so. If going down that route, it may be worth broadening your thoughts to alternative makes with greater functionality (again, on this forum. Sorry, I son't have the links)

I replaced mine because, even with satnav, I wanted one with built-in compass. If you also like that sort of toy, now would be the time to do it. I found one quite easily on the UK ebay site. The compass is built in, and so I found no wiring or connector differences - whether or not there is a difference between the mirror wiring or fiitting of a 2000 x100 and a 2005 x100 I wouldn't know - perhaps one of the forum experts could voice an opinion?
