Default Remote entry key for 2001 XK8

Can anyone please recommend a supplier of remote entry keys for a 2001 Jaguar at a reasonable price?

Could you also please point me to the link on how to set up the remote entry key?

Many thanks

Hi Have a look at www.XKeight.co.uk
Hope this helps
Peter
Key in ignition without turning to any position.

Hold turn signal in the flash to pass position, pulled towards you.

Turn key one position (aux) while holding the turn signal handle towards you.

Flash the turn signal handle towards you 4 or 5 times and you should hear a confirmation "chirp" from the security sounder. Also the security light next to the park shift lever will flash on.

After the chirp press all the buttons one at a time on the remote you wish to program listening for the chirp after each press, or a different sounding error tone meaning the programming didn't work.

To program two or more remotes, which will be required if more than one will be used, follow step 5 procedures one remote after another until all have been programmed.

Go to any reputable auto locksmith and you can purchase a key cut together with programing for about $ 30 . I did and also purchased a replacement key fob which they programmed for me for an additional $25. (04 XK8)

A no brainer !

Really?
Flighty your procedure is for programming the fob not the key if you can get a key done for $25 it's like winning the lottery!

Norri
Forgive me if I have given wrong information but reading the op's message he asked about the setting up of "remote entry key" I assumed he meant the fob as that would be the only part he can "set up" himself.
And "Really" yes, setting the fob is only a 30 second job. My replacements were Fob $55 ebay, Key $100 local locksmith inc transponder programming

I would think a key was a key but that's just me.

I've always heard that the FOB was an easy task. Many of those available for Jags on ebay are useable and the programming is simple. Could cost even less than $25. But I haven't tried it yet myself.

I hate to repeat myself but I am told by my Jag Dealer that remote fobs for Xk8/R,s 96 to 2006 are no longer made .You have the choice of buying a used one online or A NEW ONE FROM AN AUTO LOCKSMITH ,MADE BY FORD (CWTWB1U331,FCC ID ) which is fully compatible. I purchased mine for $ 25
including the programing.
